The only thing we overlook is the water…

Miller's offers one of the few truly waterfront dining experiences on the Outer Banks. Enjoy casual dining in our downstairs family-friendly seafood restaurant, or our signature drinks and grill menu in our upstairs deck bar while watching kite boarders, windsurfers and mother nature’s best sunsets.

Truly an Outer Banks family tradition, Miller’s Waterfront Restaurant has been owned & operated by the Miller Family since 1982. Dedication to quality food and service shines through with every meal and is comparable only by the beautiful water views.

Miller's Waterfront Restaurant

In August, 2011 Hurricane Irene arrived at our back door. Our Western Wall, facing the Roanoke Sound, detached from the floor and literally fell into the water. The reconstruction of the dining room recently finished in March '12. Although the interior is now very different, the food & service will always remain Miller's.

Miller's Waterfront Restaurant

Famous for its rustic Outer Banks charm, the restaurant serves a full lunch and dinner menu with the freshest meats and fish available. For the vegetarians, there are pasta and salad choices. Menu offerings include sandwiches, burgers, Southern fried baskets, fish platters, beef, chicken and steak dishes, appetizers and a steam bar. There is also a children’s menu amd gluten-free meals available.

On quiet evenings, you can eat on the covered back deck and watch the sun slowly sink into the sound, turning the water deepening shades of pink and purple. Later, you can stroll from the deck to the gazebo over the sound and enjoy a drink.

A full bar offers specialty drinks and a welcoming spot to sit for a spell with friends. When diners are done eating, they can go out to the lawn facing the sound and savor the view while sitting in Adirondack chairs.

We are pleased to offer live music either outside on the Sunset Pier (weather permitting) or upstairs at The Waterfront Sunset Bar and Grill every evening during the summer season from 5:00pm-9:00pm.

People talk about very friendly staff, best steak, fried oysters, shrimp and crab cake and best hush puppies!

"Waterfront Dining. My family and I had an amazing time at this establishment. The food and service was 5 stars. We can not wait to visit again!" ~ The Phares Family

"The fried calmari was the most tender I have ever had. They are lightly breaded not battered so you actually taste the calmari. The fried oysters were also delicious and lightly breaded !The Wanchese scallops and crabmeat dish was beyond delicious!! The homemade cole slaw is very good and different in that is not mayonnaise based, very flavorful! I highly recommend this restaurant!!" ~ Elaina Saavedra

"Gone there every year on vacation the last few years, and it’s always amazing. The hushpuppies are to die for. Never had a meal I didn’t like. Ordered a pan fried flounder topped with crab, cherry tomatoes, and citrus hollandaise last year...best meal I’ve ever been served." ~ Brynne Clawser

"Wow! Does this place do the business! I was there with my wife for our 25th anniversary. I was there around 6pm on a Tuesday. We were able to be seated within 5 minutes. As busy as they were with large parties, we were treated with great timing with our drinks, appetizer and entrees with no wait. Amazing job to the waitress, server, and kitchen staff! They were all scrambling around like crazy getting everyone great service. The manager also checked on us a few times. I had already been to a few other restaurants on the Outer Banks, but this one was great, especially the service and food! I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area. I will certainly be returning!! Thank you!" ~ Keith F. Wiehrs

"Great Food with breathtaking views! Went there for lunch and it was so good went another night for dinner. Soup was good and the Scallops were amazing! Great service too!" ~Kaykidsmom

"Amazing lunch and dinner with a spectacular view. While on a family vacation, my husband and I went on a date for dinner and sat at the bar area on the second floor. The fish tacos were delicious and the view by the water was spectacular. We came back for lunch a few days later with the rest of the family and everything we selected was very tasty, including the crab cake sandwich. The service was friendly and handled our large party very well. We enjoyed both times we ate at the restaurant and look forward to eating there again when we return to Nags Head in May of next year! ~ mcjustice

Belinda Pleva grew up serving ice cream out of her parent’s shop. She loved being part of what she calls “a happy business.” “I love it when people come into the shop and you hand them something, and it makes them smile,” Pleva says. “That moment when you hand an ice cream cone over to a little kid and their eyes just light up. That’s what I love about the ice cream business.”

In 1994, Pleva opened up her own ice cream and chocolate shop, Big Buck’s Ice Cream, in the brand-new Timbuk II Shopping Center in Corolla. Business was good, but something was missing.

“I was never satisfied with the ingredients in the ice creams and chocolates you could purchase back then. I wanted to serve my customers delicious flavors with ingredients they could actually pronounce,” Pleva says.

Pleva took a trip to Italy to study the gelaterias. She fell in love with the incredible flavors, and when she returned home to the Outer Banks, she began working tirelessly to perfect the flavors in her own ice cream.

Big Buck’s homemade ice cream combined the flavors of the Italian gelaterias and the richness of American ice cream. It quickly became a tourist favorite. After having the same unsatisfactory experience with the readymade chocolates she was selling, she also took a trip to Brussels to learn more about making handmade chocolates. Pleva brought the chocolate-making experience right back with her, and the result was the finest quality of chocolates on the Outer Banks.

After her huge success in the Corolla shop, Pleva was able to open up three more shops—one in Kitty Hawk, one in Manteo and one in Duck.
