What is a “Low Country” Boil?

The "Low Country" boil is a single pot meal. Traditionally it combined corn, potatoes, sausage and shrimp into a tasty meal to feed a crowd. In our boil kits we add onions, butter and some signature spices to draw out the flavor of these key ingredients. We know that you'll love the experience and flavor of our seafood boil!

We Make It Fun and Easy!

A seafood boil involves more than just food. It's an occasion where people enjoy time together. And eat good food! A boil can be sponsored by a community as a fundraiser, or it can be held by a group of family and friends. We guarantee a fun, easy and memorable experience!

Our Story

We grew up as childhood friends on the Outer Banks. Now we’ve come together to found Firehouse Boil Delivery. We’ve claimed the Firehouse name and pay respect to local fire volunteers by doing fundraisers.

Jeff: “After graduating, I moved away from the Outer Banks and sold fire service products. I spent a lot of time with firefighters and EMTs pioneering transport ventilator technology. I would often call on my background as an Outer Banker to prepare shrimp boils for fundraising events. “

David: “My Dad was a volunteer with the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department. From a young age he taught me the importance of community. He also helped me to appreciate the value of volunteer work, while pursuing other business interests to support a family.“

We have taken on the Firehouse name and are passionate about supporting local Fire Departments.

We pledge 1% to local first responders.

Sandy Run Park

Sandy Run Park leads its visitors through the heart of Kitty Hawk Woods Coastal Preserve, one of the largest maritime forests remaining in North Carolina. Completed in two phases, the park now encompasses 1600 acres of marshland, waterways and maritime forest. The park features a wooden boardwalk, two gazebos, a fishing and many more amenities for the enjoyment of the area's natural beauty and wildlife. On a stroll through the park you will likely run into many of the area's indigenous creatures and plants.Just after entering the park, and next to the ample parking area you’ll find a covered picnic pavilion, a putting green, cookout grills and a basketball half court. Below the pavilion is a canoe and kayak access deck. Beyond this recreation and picnic area is a half-mile loop, mostly boardwalk, that will take you on a scenic and educational tour of a large section of the Preserve, where wildlife and plants are identified by plaques placed along the route. At the first gazebo stop is another kayak and canoe access where you’re sure to see many yellow-bellied slider turtles swimming all around and an Osprey family nesting above. Other creatures you may get a glimpse of include deer, otter, egrets, raccoons and even a nutria. Also along the boardwalk you’ll find an observation deck and a pier for fishing (license required). The fishing pond is stocked with several varieties of fish, including brim and bass..Sandy Run Park is open from sunrise to sunset. Although the cost is free, the natural serenity and beauty it offers is priceless.

It even serves Jumbo Alaskan crab legs and Jumbo steamed shrimp, something you will not find on any other buffet in the OBX. The buffet offers a variety of seafood and non seafood options. Try some of Jimmy’s seafood options and load your plate with blackened tuna, Louisiana crawfish, steamed scallops and mussels, fried oysters and deviled crabs. Not in the mood for seafood? Fill your plate with steak, pineapple glazed ham, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, and fettuccini Alfredo to name a few. The buffet also offers a kid section. Let your kids load their plates with chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and corn dog nuggets. Don’t forget dessert! The buffet also offers soft serve ice cream and a plethora of baked goods.

It’s been 25 years since Jimmy’s Seafood Buffet opened its doors for the first time. Since that inaugural summer, the goal has remained the same: provide customers with a tasty, fresh array of seafood full of Caribbean flavor.

Elizabeth Dowless and her husband Jerry had always worked in restaurants in the Outer Banks, so when the opportunity to open Jimmy’s Seafood Buffet with a couple of friends arose, it was an easy yes. The Dowlesses bought out the business in 2003, excited to turn Jimmy’s into an Outer Banks staple. When Jerry passed away later that year, Dowless knew she wanted to continue pursuing their dream on her own.

Dowless went all in on the concept of a fresh, flavorful seafood buffet and her hard work paid off. Jimmy’s Seafood Buffet is a beloved fixture of Outer Banks dining, with customers returning year after year for the fresh fare.

“Customers keep in contact with me throughout the winter. I get people every day asking me when we’re opening for the season, and customers book their vacations around our opening,” Dowless says. “I absolutely love getting to see familiar faces come back to see us each year. I love seeing them lose their minds over the buffet! Their excitement is what I love most about my job.”
