Coastal Smoothie Cafe is more than a cafe—it's a love letter to the untamed spirit of the Northern Outer Banks. In 1970, my grandparents took a leap of faith, purchasing land in Corolla when there was no road north of Duck, only a promise of future access and electricity. Back then, a guard gate at the Currituck/Dare county line stood as a reminder of how remote this stretch of coast was, where travelers had to explain their journey to venture north. They built one of the first homes in Ocean Sands, surrounded by vast bare sand dunes, shipwrecks and wild Spanish mustangs that roamed freely from Ocean Sands to Carova. As a child, I spent my summers exploring those dunes, chasing tales of Blackbeard’s lost treasure, and dreading the end of summer when I’d have to leave for Virginia. My dream was to never leave this magical place. Today, that dream lives on through Coastal Smoothie Cafe , where our menu reflects the bold, adventurous spirit of the Northern Outer Banks. From our vibrant smoothies and acai bowls to our locally inspired sandwiches and cold brews, every item is crafted with the same passion and sense of discovery that defines this wild, beautiful coast.
