About this Property

  • Sleeps 4
  • 1 Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms
  • Condo
  • Approximately 850 square feet

This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / cycling proximity to multiple activities and dining options.

THE SPACE

Savor a impressive Spring week on OBX!

From your unit you can walk to the Beach, Outdoor pool area, and the Sound. Being on the outskirts of the Town of Duck, you are just a few mins. drive from shopping or dining along the 1-mile boardwalk located along the Sound. Some people can walk / bicycle this distance, but that depends on the family. In the evenings try not to miss some of the spectacular sunsets over the Sound.

This is the A side of a 2BR/2.5BA lock-off unit. This unit is rated to sleep four (4) persons. This unit is roughly 850sq feet.

The A side – 1BR/1.5BA: King Size bed, Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Fridge, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 3 stools, Dining Table / 6 chairs, Living Room area with Loveseat and Queen Sleeper couch, and outdoor Deck with table and chairs.

There is a Washer / Dryer in the entryway area shared only by the Guests in this specific A and B unit lock-off.

POOL VIEW CATEGORY:

The resort itself is Beachfront and this specific unit located in the 800 Building (see property map in the photos section), has an amazing location right next to the enormous outdoor Pool with vistas from the unit and the outdoor deck. This 800 Buildings are also the ones closest to the Beach.

From your 1st floor unit you have one very sizable deck, with a direct view of the Pool, where you can appreciate watching the Sunrise over the Ocean and the Sunsets over the Sound every afternoon.

From the 800 Building it is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, since these buildings are closest to the beach. However, if you have a lot of beach gear, or modest kids, your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces supplied if one is available.

STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:

Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.

Almost all the units at this resort have a certain number of stairs leading to the Front Door of the unit. Some have interior stairs to a 2nd level, or depending on the specific unit configuration, as few stairs up or down to one of the bedrooms inside the unit. The number of stairs varies depending on the specific unit configuration, and whether the unit is considered first floor, second floor, or third floor.

BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.

For this specific unit:

Exterior Stairs to Front Door – 0-5 steps

Interior Stairs to 2nd level – 0 steps

UNIT INTERIORS:

This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar remodel project was started, and expected to be finished in phases thru 2022/2023.

Until the entire renovation is finished, resulting in every unit interior being remodeled, you will find most unit interiors are roomy and comfortable but very dated. So while personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, casual, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, nearly like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furnishings and carpets. Hopefully the photos supplied give you a general understanding for what I am describing.

The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the biggest outdoor pool areas on OBX. Next to the pool area there is an onsite Sea Glass Snack Shack serving stuff like burgers and hot dogs, beverages, and water ice.

This property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many stores and eateries in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these cavernous units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.

Many families savor their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more extravagant accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on Vacation Rental By Owner.

I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property, I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. So if you have any specific questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.

GUEST ACCESS

Your unit is private, but since this is a Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Outdoor Games, etc).

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.

- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Vacation Resorts International (VRI). The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.

- Check In time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.

- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.

- One COMPLIMENTARY parking pass is supplied with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional car you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.

- Linens linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are included. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.

- Please especially take note of the detail above about bed coverings. BIS-Duck provides Blankets but does NOT provide the heavier, bulkier Comforters that you may have on your bed at home. The Blankets on the beds should be fine for most families, but you could bring an additional Blanket or Comforter if you have any concerns about that.

- If you plan on using the Sleeper couches during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a bed pad for the Sleeper couch specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable additional bed.

- Bath and Hand towels are supplied for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.

- There is no daily housekeeping included. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the Foyer area that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.

- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. However it is highly recommended to bring additional PAPER products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, etc) and your own CLEANING products (detergents, cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc).

- Pool / Beach towels are not supplied. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels

- You should bring your own beach chairs / beach blankets / umbrellas / equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent beach chairs / umbrellas on the beach out in front of the facility.

- The new H2OBX Waterpark freshly constructed in Powell's Point is only about 15 miles away

- If you or any members of your family enjoy bicycle riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bicycles (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bicycle units in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bicycle locks so you can lock up your bicycles at the bicycle rack each nighttime.

- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, there is Surf fishing out in front of the resort on the beach, or pier fishing from one of the piers located in OBX. You would just need to make sure you had the proper licenses though, which can be obtained conveniently locally. There is even a Super Wal-Mart when you first enter OBX at Kitty Hawk via Route 158, where local licenses can be purchased if needed. There are also many rental and charter boats for fishing based out of the various inlets if you wanted access to waters farther offshore.

- Family Animals are not allowed anywhere on or in the resort property.

- Once reservations are confirmed, you will be asked for the name and address of the main guest who will check in (the resort's Front Desk will also ask for this information when you check in, but obtaining this information beforehand will expedite the check in process) along with an e-mail address to receive a personal confirmation.

Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kitty Hawk. To get the best value, try changing your family's Kitty Hawk vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. BIS-Duck Resort - 1BR\/1.5BA Poolside Condo has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
