About this Property

  • Sleeps 4
  • 1 Bedrooms
  • 1 Bathrooms
  • Condo
  • Approximately 650 square feet

This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / cycling proximity to multiple activities and dining options.

THE SPACE

Savor a striking Spring and Memorial Day week on OBX! From your unit you can walk to the Beach, Outdoor pool area, and the Sound. Being on the outskirts of the Town of Duck, you are just a few mins. drive from shopping or dining along the 1-mile boardwalk located along the Sound. Some people can walk / bicycle this distance, but that depends on the family. In the evenings try not to miss some of the spectacular sunsets over the Sound.

This is the B side of a 2BR/2.5BA lock-off unit. This unit is rated to sleep four (4) persons. This unit is roughly 650sq feet. The B side – 1BR/1BA: Queen Size bed, Partial Kitchen with Sink, Microwave, Mini Fridge, Coffee Maker, etc. Living Room area with Queen Sleeper couch, Dining table with 4 chairs, outdoor Deck with table and chairs.

There is a Washer / Dryer in the entry area shared only by the Guests in this specific A and B unit lock-off.

GARDEN / RESORT VIEW CATEGORY: Garden View Category: Of the 115 total units at this resort, roughly 75% of them are considered "Garden / Resort View," which can also include a view of the grounds, other buildings, or the parking areas.

One nice feature of this specific unit is that it is located in the 800 Building (see property map in the photos section) and has an amazing location right next to the enormous outdoor Pool. This 800 Buildings are also the ones closest to the Beach. This is a 2nd floor unit with about 15 steps.

While there is no view of the Pool or Ocean from this specific B side unit, this is part of a Poolside condo lockout unit and is very close to both the Pool and Beach, just steps outside your unit. You can savor the Sunsets over the Sound in the afternoon from your outdoor deck.

From the 800 Building it is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, since these buildings are closest to the beach. However, if you have a lot of beach gear, or modest kids, your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces supplied if one is available.

STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY: Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.

Almost all the units at this resort have a certain number of stairs leading to the Front Door of the unit. Some have interior stairs to a 2nd level, or depending on the specific unit configuration, as few stairs up or down to one of the bedrooms inside the unit. The number of stairs varies depending on the specific unit configuration, and whether the unit is considered first floor, second floor, or third floor.

BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.

For this specific unit:

Exterior Stairs to Front Door – 15 steps
Interior Stairs to 2nd level – 0 steps

UNIT INTERIORS:

This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar remodel project was started, and expected to be finished in phases thru 2022/2023.

Until the entire renovation is finished, resulting in every unit interior being modernized, you will find most unit interiors are roomy and comfortable but very dated. So while personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, casual, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, nearly like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furnishings and carpets. Hopefully the photos supplied give you a general understanding for what I am describing.

The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the biggest outdoor pool areas on OBX. Next to the pool area there is an onsite Sea Glass Snack Shack serving stuff like burgers and hot dogs, beverages, and water ice.

This property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many stores and eateries in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these cavernous units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.

Many families appreciate their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more opulent accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on Vacation Rental By Owner.

I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property, I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. So if you have any specific questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.

GUEST ACCESS:

Your unit is private, but since this is a Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Outdoor Games, etc).

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.

- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Vacation Resorts International (VRI). The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.

- Check In time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.

- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.

- One COMPLIMENTARY parking pass is supplied with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional car you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.

- Linens linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are supplied. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.

- Please especially take note of the detail above about bed coverings. BIS-Duck provides Blankets but does NOT provide the heavier, bulkier Comforters that you may have on your bed at home. The Blankets on the beds should be fine for most families, but you could bring an additional Blanket or Comforter if you have any concerns about that.

- If you plan on using the Sleeper couches during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a bed pad for the Sleeper couch specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable additional bed.

- Bath and Hand towels are included for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.

- There is no daily housekeeping included. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the Foyer area that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.

- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. However it is highly recommended to bring additional PAPER products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, etc) and your own CLEANING products (detergents, cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc). I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week.

- Pool / Beach towels are not included. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels

- You should bring your own beach chairs / beach blankets / umbrellas / equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent beach chairs / umbrellas on the beach out in front of the facility.

- The new H2OBX Waterpark newly constructed in Powell's Point is only about 15 miles away

- If you or any members of your family enjoy bicycle riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bicycles (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bicycle units in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bicycle locks so you can lock up your bicycles at the bicycle rack each nighttime.

- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, there is Surf fishing out in front of the resort on the beach, or pier fishing from one of the piers on OBX. You would just need to make sure you had the proper licenses though, which can be obtained conveniently locally. There is even a Super Wal-Mart when you first enter OBX at Kitty Hawk via Route 158, where local licenses can be purchased if needed. There are also many rental and charter boats for fishing based out of the various inlets if you wanted access to waters farther offshore.

- Family Animals are not allowed anywhere on or in the resort property.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Kitty Hawk rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Kitty Hawk. Booking your Kitty Hawk vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. BIS-Duck Resort - 1BR\/1BA - Close to Pool and Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
