Kitty Hawk rental home tips:
When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Kitty Hawk. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Sanderling Home in Duck ???? : Sound views/ 4min walk to the Beach & Pool has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
