Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.

- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
