Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Outer Banks - Barrier Island Station Resort\nSteps from the Ocean & the pool has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Tips for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
