When to go & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home.
