Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kitty Hawk area. Booking your Kitty Hawk vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.

  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
