The space
This original OBX classic, constructed in the 50's, is the ideal mixture of historic and modern design! Less than a dozen of these original Southern Shores flat-top homes constructed by Frank Stick remain. This home is on the Historic Register and has been featured in magazines, editorials, and flat-top tours for years. The new owners have given the home a major facelift and a second life (hence the name Seaquel) while keeping the vintage feel throughout. Seaquel is located on a peaceful street centrally located in Southern Shores, just mins. from Kitty Hawk to the South and Duck to the North.

The unique and bespoke open concept floor plan welcomes you through an inviting and bright sitting room ideal for coffee, with vintage double pane interior windows and the original 1950's showcase floor. The great room awaits, ready to welcome your entire family in one comfortable place. With newly restored vintage furnishings, constructed-in bench and card table, open vistas to the pool deck, and more, this space is one-of-a-kind and ideal for huge or modest gatherings. The completely redesigned kitchen and dining area is the hub of the home, equipped with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, an additional-enormous island with counter-height seating, and offers striking vistas of the outdoor space. This kitchen features a 48" Wolf gas oven and range with a double griddle, two dishwashers, a constructed-in 36" refrigerator and 30" freezer. From here, you can wave to your friends and family coming off the beach or appreciating time in the pool

Just as customized as the inside, the outdoor space provides a beachfront getaway. A private pool with a sizable splash deck, an 8-person hot tub, and an outdoor BBQ area (which includes a fish-cleaning station, constructed-in cooler, Green Egg grille, awaits you, all just steps away from the ocean

Getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Book your Kitty Hawk rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect rental home in Kitty Hawk:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Private Beach Access in Southern Shores w/ Pool has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
