Tips for getting the perfect Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Kitty Hawk area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the perfect Kitty Hawk vacation home:
- To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanviews- Walk to beach in 2 mins has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
