Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home & When to go:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Book your Kitty Hawk vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Relaxing stay by the beach at Barrier Island Station has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
