Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Kitty Hawk rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Advice for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
