Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:

When to book a Kitty Hawk rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Kitty Hawk rental home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Booking Fall 2024 and 2025. Great Location, Fido Friendly, Great Reviews has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a specific Kitty Hawk destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
