How far is the beach?
The beach is just a few blocks away from the home so it is definitely within walking distance, however, we always recommend driving as you do have to cross one busier street. There are numerous complimentary parking beach accesses within a 2 min. drive. Also, we provide 2 beach chairs, 1 cooler, and an umbrella so it is a bit easier to take everything to the beach via car!
Is There A Grille?
Unfortunately No. The Outer Banks can often times be windy and each year many people on the beach lose their homes due to grille related home fires. For this reason and safety reasons we do not have a grille at our home. :(
Do you have a tea pot?
Unfortunately No :/ But the Keurig can brew a cup of hot water for you to steep tea in!....

We live next to some spectacular neighbors who look out for each others home. It is extremely safe and peaceful here. There are only homes on one side of the street making it very peaceful and calming vs other areas in the Outer Banks.

Located in Kitty Hawk, this apartment is by the sea. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Kitty Hawk Woods Reserve, while Glazin' Go-Nuts and Wright Brothers National Memorial are cultural highlights. Traveling with kids? Consider Children at Play Museum, or check out an event or a game at Full Throttle Speedway. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:
When to book a Kitty Hawk rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. The East Coast Host - The Modern Dojo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk destination you love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
