How to find the best Kitty Hawk rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Private guest house in OBX has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
