Kitty Hawk rental home booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the rightrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2-story house with beach access, outdoor shower, fireplace, & views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Kitty Hawk attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
