Rental booking tips:
When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4073 Downtime * 2 Min Walk to Beach * Pool/Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
