How to book the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Saltaire Cottages8: 2BR Ocean View Steps2 Private Beach Access Screen Porch Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
